The Top 5 Plumbing FAQs We Hear
We get a lot of questions about plumbing, potential costs and quotes from prospective customers. Here are our top 5 FAQs for your convenience!
FAQ 1: How do I know when it's a job for a plumber and not something I can fix myself?
The answer varies. A good rule of thumb is that unless you have prior experience in installing or repairing a plumbing system, you should probably consult a plumber who is licensed and insured.
We're more than happy to try to diagnose the problem over the phone with you, but we will need to be there in person to see the extent of the work required.
FAQ 2: What should I look for in a plumber?
We recommend that all plumbers you consult should have a license recognized by the state you live in, as well as insurance.
A license means the plumber has demonstrated their competence, knowledge and training according to standard examinations as defined by Kansas Statutes or by the Contractor License Review Board (CLRB).
Doug Luffman, our owner and president, is a Block Licensed Master Plumber. Becoming a master plumber typically requires 7-10 years of training and education.
You can find more information on recognized plumbing license resources for Johnson County here.
FAQ 3: Can you give me a free plumbing estimate over the phone?
We need to see the job first, to be able to quote you a price. There are too many variances in how individual plumbing systems are designed.
With a simple $49 service call we are able to diagnose the problem and give you an upfront quote. At that point you are able to move forward with the repair, schedule for a future date, or decline.
FAQ 4: Will you do emergency jobs past your normal business hours?
Family time is important to us, so we have prioritized our usual business hours as 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Occasionally we may choose to work outside those business hours if the situation requires immediate attention.
However, we may be able to find a temporary solution for you over the weekend and schedule an appointment during the week at your earliest convenience. Make sure you call or text us at 913-449-3478 for the fastest service.
FAQ 5: My budget is tight right now. How can I make sure this won't cost more than it needs to?
We strive to provide you with top-notch service at affordable, competitive prices. Our $49 service call – one of the lowest in the Kansas City area – speaks for itself!
Our plumbers are not commission-paid – that is, they do not get a commission based on the amount they charge for doing the job. We believe in giving our customers the highest quality of service at a reasonable price.
We're more than happy to work with you if you prefer to invest more in buying some of the materials yourself, for example a replacement faucet, while we supply the labor. Please allow us to guide you to good quality products before you make the purchase. Oftentimes it can affect the warranty of the repair.
